The Challenge

Mixed Defensive Tactics, founded by tactical expert and survival instructor Shuki Drai, needed a high-performance website that showcased both his private tactical training programs and his new S.R.T.™ (Survival Rescue Tools) product line.

The previous version of MDT’s website didn’t convey the brand’s authority or support eCommerce functionality. Shuki wanted a way to sell S.R.T. products online while maintaining full control of his training and marketing content — all within a clean, professional website experience.

The challenge was to integrate Shopify’s eCommerce system into a custom WordPress environment, allowing product management through Shopify while presenting everything under one seamless, unified site.

The Approach

I built a custom WordPress website integrated directly with Shopify via API, allowing product synchronization between both platforms while maintaining a consistent brand and design aesthetic.

The new structure separated MDT’s two main business divisions:

  • Training Division: Private tactical and defensive training programs, with clear content sections and a custom contact form for inquiries.

  • Product Division: The S.R.T.™ line of patented survival tools, each featured on individual product pages with high-quality imagery, detailed specs, and calls-to-action linking directly to Shopify for purchase.

Additionally, I led the publishing and content placement efforts for MDT, successfully coordinating a feature article on Florida State Press to boost brand visibility and domain authority through high-quality backlinking and press exposure.

The Solution

  • Developed a custom WordPress site integrated with Shopify’s API for real-time product management.

  • Designed dedicated product pages for the S.R.T.™ Survival Rescue Tools line (4 live, 2 in production).

  • Implemented a lead-capture contact form to handle private training inquiries.

  • Optimized the site structure and on-page SEO to target high-intent tactical and training keywords.

  • Managed a publishing collaboration with Florida State Press, improving SEO ranking and credibility through external media exposure.

The Results
    • MDT’s website evolved into a professional dual-function platform, effectively serving both product and service audiences.

    • Product pages for S.R.T.™ tools became the brand’s top-performing pages in organic traffic and conversions.

    • The Florida State Press feature increased referral traffic by over 40% within 30 days.

    • The new digital foundation allowed the MDT brand to scale both its training and product lines with minimal external dependencies.

This project underscored my ability to build hybrid eCommerce and service-driven websites while managing both design and digital PR strategy. By connecting content strategy, SEO, and platform integration, I helped transform MDT into a multi-faceted tactical brand with national visibility and scalable marketing potential.
